We ride in the Cowichan Valley on beautiful Vancouver Island, mostly on Mount Tzouhalem, Maple Mountain, and Cobble Hill Mountain.
Our son has grown tremendously over the past eight months, not just in his skill set but also in his personal leadership. Karen and I are very grateful for the work Michele and Alan do to build self-confidence, skills, and awareness of others in a team environment. I know that he very much likes being part of the group. Dirt Groms has created a transformative leadership space for our son to flourish.
Thank you both for all that you do to support our youth.

Dirt Groms is so much more than mountain biking! Michele and Alan’s compassionate engagement and connection with the children is by far what separates them from other instructors. Their hearts are huge and they make you feel like not only part of something special but more like family. This allows for my child to feel truly welcome. The skills my child has gained through being a part of Dirt Groms are beyond anything he could have achieved simply riding with friends or family. For driven and ambitious children who love to mountain bike, Dirt Groms offers so much guidance for the children to learn how to ride safely and gradually advance their skills to the next level. Michele and Alan have my full trust and so much gratitude!
The Dirt Groms have been a huge part of our lives for two years now and our children have learned so much from them. They are having fun, gaining lots of skills from different foundations of cycling, and doing it all in a safe manner. The Dirt Groms have helped to instil a love of mountain biking, exercise, and the outdoors in our children. We would highly recommend them, from the beginner, to the expert, from children, to adults, there is something for everyone to learn from The Dirt Groms.

Isaac, 12 years old
Isaac started riding a strider bike at 2 years old and fell in love with it, especially keeping it clean – no mud or dirt allowed! At the age of 4, he got a bike with training wheels but quickly took those off and was pedalling on two wheels. He also was a very skilled hockey player and played rep hockey with the Cowichan Capitals. After the odd ride on Tzouhalem, Isaac did a Dirt Groms camp in the summer of 2021 and he fell in love with mountain biking. He decided to hang up his skates and refocus his time on riding. It has since become his passion.
He has joined the Dirt Groms Race Team for 2022 and is counting the days until his new Trek Slash arrives. If Isaac isn’t riding, he spends every waking hour building bike trails in the yard, watching mountain bike videos, reading mountain bike magazines, telling someone a story about mountain biking, or cleaning his bike – still no mud or dirt allowed!
Isaac’s family have loved watching his passion for the sport grow over this past year and are excited to watch him live out his passion. Dirt Groms has literally changed his life and it has been amazing for him to be a part of this group. As Isaac’s coaches, we have seen incredible improvement in all his mountain bike skills as well as overall fitness. You will NEVER hear Isaac complain about anything. His dedication to the sport has paid off and we are excited to introduce mountain bike racing to Isaac and see his results.
